Golden Globes Review

23 Mar Golden Globes Review

GG1Last night the Golden Globes honoured Hollywood TV and film with its annual awards but as usual, most of the eyes were on the red carpet. Hair trends included finger waves, lobs, hair tucked under to look like a bob, side parts and low buns. Braids also took their place, including on the men – hello Jared Leto!

The fashion can be best described as a bit of a mix. Maybe even a mess. Few people really stood out in a great way and some of the faux-pas were pretty glaring. Host Tina Fey started the slide into the abyss with a disaster of a dress that made her like a bedazzled lampshade. Emily Blunt, who usually looks lovely, seemed to have come straight from a toga party, while J-Lo and Kate Hudson could have been competing for the plunging neckline award.

GG3There were some stand outs though, including Naomi Watts in yellow Gucci, Emma Stone with her tousled lob and Anna Kendrick’s gorgeous gown.

The awards themselves went pretty much to plan, without giving too much insight into what will happen at the Oscars. Boyhood, Selma and Grand Budapest Hotel were the big winners.

While Tiny and Amy did a grand job at the hosting, the presenters for each award were somewhat awkward and mirrored many the red carpet for cringe worthiness. Let’s hope the Oscars are another level up and don;t forget to look out for our own Oscars live blogging and round up at the end of February!
